From 29 June to 3 July, Domenico Graziano participated in the summer school “1966-2026. Frammenti dall’alluvione di Firenze”, organized by the Florence National Central Library, with the partnership of the Associazione Italiana Manoscritti Datati, the Ente Nazionale Giovanni Boccaccio, and the Istituto Nazionale di Studi sul Rinascimento.

Together with the other participants, our researcher trained in state-of-the-art tools and methodologies used to study manuscript and printed fragments preserved in global library collections. Applying these methods directly, he catalogued a selection of original fragments rescued from the devastating 1966 flooding of the Arno River.

This experience provided our team with valuable new technical skills, including a thorough grounding in the architecture of the ManusOnLine (MOL) database. The catalogue records produced by Graziano during the program will be published digitally in MOL and featured in a forthcoming printed catalogue. This publication commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Arno flood, honoring the uninterrupted, decades-long effort to gather, restore, and provide access to the city’s damaged cultural heritage.
