From July 26 to August 1, 2026, we hosted the Aurora Summer School “NeoLEMoS” (Neo-Latin for Early Modern Studies), organized by Federica Rossetti and Patryk Ryczkowski in collaboration with Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II. The event brought together students and lecturers from ten European countries, fostering a lively and fruitful dialogue throughout the week.

The Summer School explored the pivotal role of Neo-Latin in Early Modern Studies, aiming for a holistic understanding of modern society through the lens of Latin texts and historical documents.

The academic program effectively balanced lectures with hands-on practice, including active training in digital humanities tools (such as Transkribus) designed for analysing Neo-Latin texts. Beyond the classroom, participants enjoyed engaging field trips that allowed them to discover and explore key Renaissance landmarks across Tyrol, like Tratzberg Castle and Ambras Castle.
