On October 19, 2026, Federica Rossetti delivered a seminar at the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore in Vilnius, entitled “Polish and Lithuanian Aristocracy in Basel in the Second Half of the Sixteenth Century: The Network of Celio Secondo Curione.”

The seminar explored the well-documented formation of European networks connecting Eastern European elites with Reformed intellectuals based in Germany and Switzerland during the sixteenth century, focusing specifically on the case of Celio Secondo Curione. An Italian Protestant theologian who sought refuge in Basel, Curione maintained extensive and sustained contacts with members of the Polish and Lithuanian aristocracy during the latter half of the century. The presentation highlighted primary sources – both printed works and manuscript evidence – that document these intellectual exchanges.

Ultimately, the seminar served as a valuable forum for interaction among researchers from diverse geographical and disciplinary backgrounds, fostering a fruitful networking opportunity between Vilnius and Innsbruck.
