The research team from SP1 recently concluded a fruitful participation at the Transkribus User Conference 2026 in Passau (September 21–23).

Reflecting the event’s core theme on the differences and synergies between AI technologies, our researchers presented a poster detailing the AI-augmented pipeline currently under development for the Neo-Latin in the Modern World Digital Platform. The presentation outlined our latest tests integrating Transkribus Handwritten Text Recognition (HTR) models with Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs). This hybrid workflow is designed to optimize the extraction of complex data from early modern sources and harmonize it within the SRA’s semantic database architecture.

Beyond the formal program of workshops and lectures, the conference offered a valuable opportunity to engage with experts from different backgrounds. These exchanges were instrumental in laying the strategic groundwork for future collaborations between our SRA and other large-scale DH projects focused on the computational analysis of global written cultural heritage.
